A Looming Data Quality Crisis


A perennial problem for IT departments is getting business buy-in to the accountability for data quality. Poor data quality impairs the business ability to manage its outcomes – but there is often little or nothing that IT can do to fix the problem.

If IT is identified as the owner of IT data quality, the business can back away from it and nobody will win. In exploring the difference, I am going to look into the effect that the emerging tidal wave of converging communications technologies will have on data quality (and visa versa) and look at specific remedies in that area.
