The Institute is an independent company whose functions include the registration of members and the assessment of their career experience and capabilities to support the attainment of the Institute’s Certification levels.

The Institute collects and retains information which includes personal, employer and career information about practitioners for these purposes, and deals with the collection, use, disclosure, security and quality of personal information in accordance with the relevant laws.

As part of its professional certification role, the Institute maintains a register of all Certified Members and Certified Fellows and makes that information publicly available in a manner deemed appropriate by the Institute. This specifically applies to, but is not limited to, the verification of the individuals' rights to use the Institute’s Accreditations in response to queries from potential employers and recruitment agencies.
