Categories of Membership
There are three categories of membership of the CIO Institute of Australia

Each category allows access to the Institute's Continuing Professional Development program, Certification Training programs and other services and benefits of membership.

Associate Member of the Australian CIO Institute

  • Not allowed to use the Institute's accreditation
  • Must have held an endorsed senior IT management position for a period of at least 6 months (see full criteria)
  • Access to member benefits including the Professional Development Program
  • Eligible to benefit from the Institute's mentorship program
  • Eligible to vote in elections for CIO Institute of Australia professional committees
  • Able to enrol in Certification Training Program to access Member and Fellow Status

Certified Member of the Australian CIO Institute

  • Allowed to use MICIOI accreditation
  • Must have held an endorsed senior IT management position for a period of at least 2 years (see full criteria)
  • Completed "platform components" of the ICIOI certification program (or achieved relevant exemptions) (see full criteria)
  • Access to member benefits including the Professional Development Program
  • Prioritised access to certain restricted events (eg: limited attendance workshops)
  • Eligible to benefit from the Institute's mentorship program
  • Eligible to vote and stand for election to CIO Institute of Australia professional committees
  • Eligible to vote in elections for International CIO Institute professional committees

Certified Fellow of the Australian CIO Institute

  • Allowed to use FICIOI accreditation
  • Must have held an endorsed senior IT management position for a period of at least 5 years (see full criteria)
  • Completed "fellowship components" of the ICIOI certification program (or achieved relevant exemptions) (see Full criteria)
  • Access to member benefits including the Professional Development Program
  • Prioritised access to certain restricted events (eg: limited attendance workshops)
  • Eligible to volunteer to provide mentoring services
  • Eligible to vote and stand for election to CIO Institute of Australia professional committees
  • Eligible to vote and stand for election to International CIO Institute professional committees
